The Math headquarters also undertakes welfare
activities:
WELFARE & PECUNIARY HELP:
(a) Financial help amounting
to Rs.2,27,635/- was rendered to needy women and students
at Dakshineswar and through the centres in Thrissur,
Bangalore, Kochi, Bhuvaneswar, Almora and Valsad. No.
of beneficiaries: occasional: 2070, monthly: 108.
(b) Chhatu worth Rs.18,600/-
was distributed among 483 needy women and children of
Dakshineswar locality while milk, biscuits, midday meal,
tiffin, nutritious food and rice were distributed among
1456 poor students and needy women through the centres
in Thrissur, Bangalore, Bhuvaneswar and Valsad amounting
to Rs.79,661/-.
(c) Sarees and clothes were
distributed among poor women and children of Dakshineswar
locality and other places through the centres in Thrissur,
Bangalore, Pune, Bhuvaneswar, Kochi, Varanasi, Almora,
Valsad and also through Ramakrishna Sarada Sangha, Charghat,
Naranarayan Sevashrama Sangha, Bagda and Kolikata Bidhan
Manab Bikash Samiti, Howrah. No. of beneficiaries 4,079.
Expenditure incurred Rs.5,15,450/-.
(d) Financial help for medical
treatment and surgery etc. was given to needy patients
at Dakshineswar and through the centres at Thrissur,
Pune, Bhuvaneswar, Kochi and Valsad. No. of beneficiaries:
350, while 1500 patients received treatment, medicines
etc. through the Chennai Math. Total expenditure: Rs.1,86,103/-
.
(e) 5460 blankets worth Rs.6,82,500/-
were distributed at Dakshineswar and through the centres
in Bhuvaneswar and Sihore as well as through Anandanagar
Mahila Samiti, Nadia, Katwa Sarada Nari Sangha, Basirhat
Sri Sarada Devi Sangha, Belghoria Prayas Sanstha, Ma
Sarada Samiti, Bashirhat, Agarhati Sri Ramakrishna Sarada
Samiti, Naranarayan Seva Sangha, Bagda, Makla Muktadhara,
Balurghat Sarada Sangha, Naba Barrackpur Sree Sarada
Sangha, Sarada Seva Sangha, Howrah, Institute of Climbers
and Nature Lovers, Santoshpur, Katwa Vivekananda Pathachakra
and Vivek Chetana, Kolkata.
Total expenditure incurred under
this head during the year: Rs.17,09,949/-.
Sri
Sarada Math, Chennai under a project sponsored
by the Rotary Club, Ambattur Branch, Tamil Nadu, distributed
among 20 students (age group 8 to 12) sleeping kits
containing light bedding, utensils, uniform-dresses,
school bags etc. Educational aid was given to 101 students,
while pecuniary help was given to needy people.
The Nivedita School distributed sarees and
clothes worth Rs.1,37,240/- among 540 poor women and
children; the Siriti centre also distributed clothing
worth Rs.75,433/- among 554 needy women and children,
while the New Delhi centre spent Rs.1,28,564/- for distribution
of woollen and cotton garments, food, medicines as well
as pecuniary help to the needy (No. of beneficiaries:
325).

Work for Children and Women: The following
centres continued to help students in various ways:
the Sister Nivedita Girls’ School, the Ashrama,
the Vivekananda Vidyabhavan, the Shiksha Mandir and
the Siriti centre in Kolkata, the village centres in
West Bengal and the centres in New Delhi, Khonsa, Thiruvananthapuram
and Indore. The Nivedita School conducted a coaching
class for slum children of Baghbazar area, whereas the
Shiksha Mandir ran an informal school for basti children
of Alambazar. The centre in New Delhi also conducted
educational work for poor children of Shahpurjat village
as well as for basti children of Hauz Khas area, and
gave financial help to students of different schools
for pursuing their studies. The centre also conducted
adult education classes for women and a tailoring class.
Ramakrishna
Sarada Mission spent a total
of Rs.86,34,801/-, while Sri Sarada Math
spent Rs.64,60,899/- towards relief, welfare and rural
uplift work.
