Rural Activities
 
 
The Math and Mission is working extensively in the rural India to uplift the condition of women and children. Vocational trainings are imparted to girls to provide them earning opportunity. It runs charitable health clinic in rural areas to provide allopathic and homeopathic treatment to women and children. Medicines are often supplied free and financial help and nutritional food, blankets, clothes and house repair are often provided to the needy. The Math and Mission also works to spread education in hygiene among village women. Daily tiffin and uniforms are provided free to the students, besides books and other educational materials. The primary school up to class V at Shillya, Burdwan Dist. has 548 students.

Apart above table at Primary school Khonsa village, it spent for village welfare work Rs.1,48,764/- and helped eight students for further studies in other schools and colleges Rs.23,716/-. Pecuniary help worth Rs.21,825/- was also given to 135 needy persons.

 

 
Weaving Section at Thakurnagar

The weaving-cum-tailoring Training Centre in Thakurnagar Village, Midnapore Dist. had 28 trainees who earned money while learning. This centre also conducts a Sunday School for children and free coaching classes up to standard IV. Medical camp was conducted where 187 patients were examined. An eye Section has also been started.

The centre at Gangarampore conducts a primary school for poor children from pre-I to class IV and a Balwadi - number of students 289 and 41 respectively.

 

The vocational school for the village women imparted training in tailoring, embroidery and other handicrafts, while literacy classes for women were held regularly in collaboration with Vivek Chetana.

At Shihore, Dist.Bankura sarees and clothes were distributed among 1476 needy women and poor children while uniforms, bags etc. were given to 100 school students. The charitable homoeopathic dispensary conducted by this new Math centre treated 2616 cases.

The Bangalore Math's rural development work at Siddhagiri about 85 km from Bangalore conducts:

  • Coaching classes for children with midday meals
  • Tailoring and incense-stick rolling classes for village women
  • desilting/digging of ponds and well, and digging of bore well
  • construction/repair of roads and bridges
  • construction/renovation of old houses and huts
  • help in cash and kind to students and for medical treatment
  • free general medical camps in nearby areas, where 474 patients were examined and medicines distributed free. An eye camp was conducted for 79 children while a dental camp was also organized where 18 patients were examined.
  • In all, the centre spent Rs.7,17,503/- for the above purposes.
